Rigger (Workshop Supervisor Unit) - Brunel Energy - Engineering

Background: • Reports to assigned Supervisor. Performs duties in accordance with well-defined procedures. Specific job instructions, craft standards and safety regulations. Work is checked upon completion of each assignment. • Routine contacts with Maintenance and Operations personnel up to Supervisor level, during installation work to receive information on specific requirements. Main Accountabilities: 1. To receive instructions and work orders from Supervisor, determines lifting requirements need for internal and external scaffolding on buildings, structures, inside heaters and vessels and arranges for all required materials, tools and equipment in accordance with specific needs. Obtains hot and cold work permits and arranges for the transportation of pipes, boards and clips to job site. 2. To provide directions to assigned laborer, which includes allocating work, providing advice on complex rigging and checking completed work for safety requirements. 3. To undertake the erection of tubular and pre-formed box scaffolding in accordance with prescribed specifications, safety requirements and sound scaffolding practices and techniques, to provide access for maintenance personnel to high structures for a variety of purposes. This includes directing laborers in physical erection of scaffolding, checking all erected scaffolds to ensure that all safety aspects have been taken care of before handing over for use by maintenance personnel. 4. To transfer scaffolding and associated equipment from the work site and returns equipments to rigging loft on completion of work. Maintains all scaffolding tubes, frames, clips, boards and ladders in a safe and sound condition. Undertakes rigging of all lifts ensuring correct rigging practice and safety of lifts at all times. Ensures that faulty scaffolding equipment is either repaired or disposed of to avoid possible hazards. 5. To prepare all lifting tackle of heavy-duty installation work. Includes rigging and operating pull lifts, chain blocks, rope blocks, pneumatic/electric winches, re-rigging cranes and hoist as required.

Profile Minimum Requirements: Mechanical / Metallurgy Engineering graduate with at least 7 years of related experience.
