Job Description
1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide engineering expertise in the relevant discipline at all phases of project; to participate in all project activities related to the discipline to ensure a safe operable and economic design within the framework of the project budget, operational requirements, specifications and schedule
2. TASKS PERFORMED
a) Identifies and brings to the attention of the Engineering Manager, any potential problems which could delay development and cost deviations and could have an adverse effect on the project and provides recommendations for mitigation measures
b) Supports the Engineering Manager in preparation and finalizing of the periodical project reports and presentations
c) Participates and provides input in the discipline during the preparation of the project scope of work, preparation of the ITB, within Technical Bid Evaluation, preparation of scope of work for contracts, contracts awards and in the project management process
d) Gathers and provides relevant information and engineering data as required for engineering development by the Contractor. Liaises with counterparts within the permanent organisation
e) Reviews and approves Project Specifications relating to the discipline in line with QAPCO technical rules and regulations, industrial standards and safe working practices, thus ensuring QAPCO’s guidelines, procedures and specifications are followed
f) Reviews, comments, and approves design deliverables from Contractors. Ensures that the engineering/design output meets the project’s and QAPCO’s requirements and is performed in a timely and efficient manner by the Contractors
g) Provides discipline support for Procurement, Construction, Pre-commissioning and Commissioning. Ensures compliance with the required safety, quality, environmental and technical standards and provides technical support to Construction, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, HSE, and QA/QC
h) Provides technical assurance of the adequacy of designs prepared by Contractors, by reviewing and approving all engineered work products for quality, innovation, and discernment. Ensures that alternate designs or changes are economical, operable and meet safety, maintenance and schedule requirements
i) Participates in the inspection of equipment and materials, at the vendor’s facilities, or upon its arrival at site, according to the Quality Assurance Plan. Provides technical support for selection of equipment, materials, hardware and applications
j) Participates actively in planning, monitoring, and progress controlling of the Construction, Pre-commissioning and Commissioning activities against the project schedule. Ensures proper and accurate documentation is provided/updated through the life of the project
k) Serves as liaison between the project team and QAPCO’s departments, for the relevant discipline
l) Ensures project closeout meets the required standards
