Opportunity Senior Managers British Embassy - Libya

An opportunity has arisen for a new full time upgraded position at LEI level. The job presents an exciting opportunity for a proactive team player with very good interpersonal skill and excellent communication skills in English and Arabic, both written and oral. Previous experience in the Libyan Oil & Gas Sector is highly desirable. Prospective applicants should be available to start work in February or March 2009. The salary at LE I level ranges from a minimum of LYD 2802 per month to a maximum of LYD 5418.
The successful applicant would normally be expected to start at the minimum of the salary scale.

2.The Position:
As LEI Senior Trade & Investment Officer (Oil & Gas), to provide first class advice and support to British companies wishing to do business in the Libyan Oil & Gas Sector.

3. Job Description:
Duties will include:
• To establish and maintain a wide-ranging cross-section of contacts in the Libyan oil and gas sector and UK supply chain companies/trade associations, including key senior managers in procurement, projects, engineering, exploration, HS&E, training/education and materials. To develop strong relationships with contacts, in particular within the National Oil Corporation of Libya and International Oil Companies, as well as locally based oil and gas supply chain companies.
• To take the lead in developing proposals and strategies for submission to UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and other key stakeholders for new initiatives in the Libyan Oil & Gas Sector.
• To regularly update the Embassy's Libya Oil & Gas Report for dissemination to interested UK companies and multipliers.
• To provide new and experienced UK-based companies with the information they require to make informed business decisions by handling chargeable and non-chargeable market research enquiries, conducting visits and writing appropriate reports and creating Business Opportunities.
• To assist visiting British business visitors including those on trade missions in arranging meetings with Libyan contacts.
• To widen our network of Libyan business contacts and compile lists of potential Libyan companies who would be willing to represent UK companies forming joint ventures or acting as agents/distributors.
• To update our Customer Relationship Management database of business contacts on a daily basis.
• To provide oral briefings to UK trade missions at UKTI events or those involving trade associations on the opportunities in the Oil & Gas Sector in Libya and providing advice on how to do business here.
• To help manage the programme and logistical arrangements for Oil & Gas related VIP visitors, trade missions and UKTI visitors to Libya.
• To cover for the other LEI Senior Trade & Investment Officer in the Embassy Team during his absences and to handle any other work delegated by the Head of the UKTI Team.
• To manage one Trade & Investment Assistant.

4.Job Requirements:
• Previous experience in the Libyan oil & gas sector is highly desirable
• Have a genuine desire to provide excellent customer service to all of the Embassy's customers
• Strong team player
• Must be flexible in approach to dealing with problems
• Must be willing to work outside Embassy conditioned hours when UK trade missions and Ministers are visiting Libya
• Good IT skills
• Excellent written and oral skills in English and Arabic.
