Offshore Electronic Assistant or Principal Instrument/System Technicia-Doha - Qatar

Brunel Energy (a division of Brunel International NV Netherlands) provides specialists, engineers and other professionals for offshore and onshore engineering, construction, operations and other logistic support activities. The client, is the leading oil producer offshore Qatar and a recognized pioneer in oil development and production techniques. On the basis of an Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement (EPSA) signed in 1992 and presently engaged in one of the largest oil projects in the world with capital investments of approx. 6 billion USD, called FDP 2005, comprising the drilling of more than 160 additional production and water injection wells. The current oil production from the Al Shaheen Field is approx. 330, 000 barrels/day. The client is currently engaged in further development of the Al Shaheen Field offshore Qatar. This includes the drilling of more than 160 additional production and water injection wells, as well as the establishment of three further offshore platform locations with production and accommodation facilities. Nature and Scope The control system consists of a SCADA part, a Fire & Gas part and an Emergency Shutdown part. The two types used offshore are the ABB Master System and the Siemens 57 System. Work on the system will include: • Trouble-shooting failures in the system, either internally or on various field equipment. • Changing and updating the mimice. • Changing and updating software and set points. • Reviewing planned system changes. • Supervising vendor representatives working on the control system. Besides the process control system, the job will include: • Carrying out planned work and repairs on communication systems like 'Line of Sight' radio system, company PC network and telephone system.. • Carrying out planned work and repair of networks. • Assisting maintenance personnel in trouble-shooting on PLC controlled equipment. • Participating in commissioning and 'run in ' of new equipment. Qualifications: The candidate shall have good qualifications in electronics and a minimum of 2-3 years experience with a similar job in the oil industry, power plant, or automated process industries. Salary Package: This position will offer an attractive salary package and a rotation of 28 days on/28 days off.
