Director of EFL Institute - Yemen

The General Director (GD) is responsible for the overall operation of a high profile English language institute with average enrollments exceeding 2,500 students per term and peak enrollments of up to 3,500 students. With a multinational staff of approximately 30 employees and 70 teachers, the ESL institute is operated by the Yemen College of Middle Eastern Studies (YCMES) through a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Embassy in Yemen. Eight 5-week terms are conducted annually. Classes are held daily, Saturday through Wednesday from 8:30 a.m.–8:30 p.m., and supplemental learning activities are conducted on Thursdays. Facilities are located in a garden-like setting and include four buildings with 40 classrooms, a self-access multi-media lab, and a 48-station computer lab.

Job Responsibilities
• Overall responsibility for all day-to-day operations
• Overall responsibility for the planning and implementation of courses, provide a high-standard service and education
• Budget design and implementation
• Ensuring the quality and efficiency of YALI program implementation
• Ensuring that the YCMES’ memorandum of understanding signed with the U.S. Embassy is being adhered to in running YALI
• Staff recruitment and management in consultation with the YCMES
• Development of a self-assessment system to evaluate both teaching and administrative staff
• Draft for Yali staff a handbook that includes administrative, accounting and financial policies, rules and regulations
• Facilities management
• Marketing of courses, development of sponsorships and institutional agreements, with authorization to sign new agreements
• Promoting instructional staff pre-service and in-service trainings, TEFL trainings and international workshops
• Ensure that the institute is reflecting a better image of the USA to Yemenis
• Develop international exchange program for both students and staff

Qualifications and desirable skills
• A degree (MA required) in EFL/TEFL/Education Management or related field
• 5 year experience working in a similar or related position
• EFL teaching experience
• Flexibility to work in a diverse and multicultural work environment, previous experience in the Middle-East to be preferred
• Great organizational and multi-tasking skills, ability to work under pressure
• Excellent oral and written English language skills, Arabic knowledge to be an asset
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and computer usage
• American National
