Manager - Breast Imaging - Sidra Medical Research Center - Doha - Qatar

The Manager – Breast Imaging under the direction of the Director of Medical Imaging, manages the operational activities pertaining to the Breast Imaging services to ensure delivery of a high quality Diagnostic Imaging service at Sidra Medical and Research Center. The Manager is responsible for the management of Technologists within the service to ensure the continuity of service delivery. The Breast Imaging service provides inpatient and outpatient Mammography and interventional Mammography procedures on patients on a referral basis and for medical research. Through the production of high quality images, the Manager is responsible for ensuring that a high standard of service is continually provided to all patients, their families and other hospital staff as prescribed in the patient care and facility standards set down by Sidra Medical and Research Center.

Requirements:
    BSc in Medical Imaging or equivalent
    Postgraduate education relevant to Mammography
    Experience managing and facilitating large scale projects involving the installation of Diagnostic Imaging Equipment
    Experience managing staff in a leadership role
    5+ years of progressively more advanced technical experience in 5 years clinical experience in Breast imaging in a North American Academic Institution or equivalent in the UK, Republic of Ireland, EU States, South Africa, Australia or New Zealand or appropriate education
     Demonstrated experience participating in JCAHO or similar accreditation surveys including mammography accreditation practises
    Combinations of education and experience will be considered.
    Eligible for registration with the ARRT/CAMRT/HPC or an equivalent licensing/accreditation board as a Radiology Technologist
    Eligible for licensure as a  Radiology Technologist and/or a Mammography Technologist in the State of Qatar
    Extensive functional knowledge and clinical experience in Radiography
    Extensive functional knowledge and clinical experience in Breast Imaging
    Demonstrated staff and resource management skills
    Delivery of departmental clinical/technical training programs
    Knowledge of Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving Communications Systems (PACS).
    Knowledge of IV cannulation and injection techniques

Key Accountabilities:
    Responsible for the delivery of the Breast Imaging service; scheduling of resources and services, supervision, delegation and management of Breast Imaging service resources to ensure an efficient flow and optimal utilization of equipment and personnel
    Provides modality expertise in the planning for all new facilities, recommending facilities, equipment and personnel needs in reference to the Breast Imaging service as required
    Manages the quality of service provided by the Breast Imaging patient care team within the Diagnostic imaging services. Ensures that systems and standards that promote patient safety and safe practices for delivering patient care for the modality are adhered to as directed
    Provides modality expertise in reference to the Breast Imaging service, taking the lead role in the maintenance and development of the Breast Imaging service
    Acts independently in the assessment of referrals for Breast Imaging examinations, taking full responsibility to ensure evidence-based standards of practice of Breast imaging are applied to the examination.
     Utilizes skills to assess a patient’s condition, often acute, and decides on an appropriate method to obtain a diagnostic image from a range of options.
    Performs all MRI procedures, responsibilities and provides patient care to patients of all ages as required
    Ensures the safe and efficient use of the Mmmography equipment, taking action to resolve faults/issues and advising the Director of Medical Imaging.
    Reports on Breast imaging services performance in relation to established goals.
    Implements change to effect continual improvement in services provided, and ensures compliance with all internal and external standards as well as regulatory and legal requirements as directed
    Ensures quality improvement programs and competency assessment initiatives for the Diagnostic Imaging services are followed by the Breast Imaging patient care team.
    Provides appraisals of staff as directed. Interviews potential staff canidates and recommends on hiring.
    Participates in mandatory training and actively practices continual professional development in alignment with Sidra’s professional development programs to ensure maintenance of professional licensure/accreditation
    Develops and/or delivers training programs to new employees on equipment and procedures in the area of operations in alignment with the department’s and Sidra’s training objectives and plans.
    Is the educational resource for MRI and contributes to the education of patients, staff and physicians and other stakeholders as required
    Provides support and relief for other Diagnostic Imaging managers as required
    Observes and implements departmental and applicable organizational policies, procedures, regulations and information to the Breast Imaging patient care team
    Adheres to and promotes compliance with the hospital’s radiation safety and protection policy and associated codes of practice, and takes appropriate action where non-compliance is evident
    Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
    Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times
